Pair of high-backed wooden armchairs, based on the model by Giuseppe Scapinelli.
Giuseppe Scapinelli (1891–1982) was an Italian designer who settled in Brazil in the 1920s. A prolific designer, his work is distinguished by elegant forms and bold curves, often crafted in carved wood.
He designed refined furniture that combined functionality and sophistication, blending European aesthetics with Brazilian modernism, defining the style of Brazilian furniture of the 1950s and 1960s.
The armchairs have recently been completely reupholstered. Some wear to the varnish. The seats and backs are covered in white upholstery fabric.
