An early and unusual treenware wine goblet
Thin walled, expertly turned from one piece of light tone wood (possibly maple, ash or sycamore), in characteristic Georgian / Federal wine glass shape
Wine goblets from the period were usually made from all sort of grass - cut, flint, pressed, blown, but very rarely seen in treen
Smooth, natural finish. The darker spots are from the natural texture of the wood
Circa first half of the 19th century, American, found in New England
Measurements: Approximately 4 3/4" tall x 3 1/8" base diameter (across)
