The four sides are decorated with finely drawn and detailed, bird and flower scenes with the artist's signature in black, caoshu script and one red seal mark. A red, Ying Bing Zhai mark in Zhuanshu script is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, stand is included. Circa Republic of China period or later.

Ying Bing Zhai: Studio of Swallowing Ice (while fasting). Studio name of Jingdezhen painter, Liu Yucen (1904 - 1969), one of the "Eight Friends of Zhushan", a former, imperial kiln site and a nickname for Jingdezhen proper. These eight painters began organizing in 1927 and met once a month as the "Full Moon Group" later adding two more members.
