A Pair of 18th Century Italian Chairs with Original Blue and Gilt Paintwork.
These lovely chairs are probably Venetian, made in the middle of the 18th century in the Louis XV rococo style. They retain their original blue paintwork, with gilded highlights. As would be expected with chairs of this period, the frames are made up of a series of curves and scrolls. The asymmetrical top rails vary on the two chairs, meaning that these are a true pair. The cresting leaning right on one chair, left on the other. The chairs are of grand and imposing scale but have soft curves to the frames and pretty soft blue painted finish.
The chairs have been newly reupholstered to an under finish, ready for the client's choice of outer fabric or could be left as is for a more contemporary look.
