Most likely used as a bucket or bottle or shoe bench positioned by the door with a pail or bottles of water for a quick hand wash up and a place to leave dirty shoes before entering. Most did not survive. Measures 53” x 12” d x 20” h. Seat portion measures 6” d. Circa late 1800s - early 1900s. Sits sturdy. Some nails have been added through the years. See less
