This is a haute couture design by the iconic Christian Dior that dates to 1954. It originally appeared in a magazine of the time. It is NOT a recent reproduction print. We were fortunate to purchase this from a Paris vendor who specializes in vintage fashion prints. This Dior design is illustrated and signed and dated by the iconic Eric (Carl Erickson). Eric is one of the leading fashion illustrators of all times dominating the world of fashion illustration during the Art Deco-Mid-Century years in Paris. He is best known for his work for French Vogue magazine and Coty Cosmetics. His works appear in the fashion archives of international museums. Eric's drawings are auctioned at leading auction houses worldwide and his work is highly recognizeable and collectible and for good reason. The rich background with Eric's stylistic brush strokes further enhances the whimsy and fantasy of the fashion illustration! His works are bold, "alive" and elegant. This design was from a Mid-Century collection of "big-evening" dresses that were from Dior's 1954 collection. The design showcases Dior's signature look of dresses with slender silhouettes, fitted waistlines, and opening up with a swath of fabric all showing the new look of feminity. Note the fullness in the 3/4 length jacket worn over the slender, hugging skirt and finished off with a boa-style fur wrap. The print has strong vivid color and a textural backgroup, typical of Eric's work. It is in pristine condition. Perfect for tody's vintage fashion collector or fashionista. Measures 9 x 12.5 inches. Comes matted in a neautral tone 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
