A striking piece of Danish modern craftsmanship, this vintage box is a collaboration between celebrated cabinetmaker Alfred Klitgaard (1926–2005) and enamel artist Bodil Eje (1931–2006). Expertly crafted from Brazilian rosewood, the lid is set with a handmade enameled copper plaque—a vivid, abstract composition in green and red.

Klitgaard’s work is revered for its minimalist elegance and meticulous execution. Each piece was handmade in Denmark in small numbers and rarely exported, which contributes to its scarcity today. When he did collaborate, Klitgaard chose leading Danish enamelists like Bodil Eje, whose richly colored, kiln-fired plaques brought bold contrast and texture to his rosewood forms.

This versatile box works beautifully as a trinket, jewelry, humidor, or desk organizer. The interior features the original removable divider, and the underside is stamped “Klitgaard Denmark” with his signature impressed mark.
