Beautiful set of old bronze bookends featuring the Swiss Guard lion and the "Helvetiorum Fidei Ac Virtuti," which roughly translates "To the loyalty and bravery of the Swiss." The lions appear battle-worn and are each resting near a Swiss shield.
These lovely bronze bookends are in good overall condition with light wear and patina commensurate with age. They are heavy and well-made with felt bottoms.
Each marked "JB 1670" on the back.
Each lion bookend measures 7.5" long, 5.5" tall and 3" deep.
These guys pair well with a set of antique books and a large darkwood desk. Fabulous, regal and aged to perfection, these bookends would display well in virtually any space.
