This elegant wooden sculpture by Nelson Morales from the Dominican Republic exudes strength and stillness. With a height of 51 cm and flowing, almost undulating forms, the sculpture depicts a stylized female figure enveloped in a long robe-like form. The absence of detail in the face and abstract lines give the work a timeless character, while the warm wood and careful finish suggest a deeply human presence. Nelson Morales is known for his refined approach to tropical hardwoods and his ability to make emotion and identity palpable in abstraction.
