This elegant modernist table can seat 10+ people for meals or for meetings. It can also function as a stunning display surface or worktable. The off-white marble surface, one simple 1” thick
slab, has delicate veining. The circular chrome-plated legs are fit into and through the marble; chrome discs top each leg in the tabletop. A special feature is that the legs can be screwed out of the surface, allowing for safer moving.
Erwine and Estelle Laverne are designers who met as art students in New York in the 1930s. By 1950 they had established LaVerne International, producing a variety of tables and other pieces of furniture that are highly collectible today. The simplicity of the table enables it to fit seamlessly in either a contemporary or more traditional setting.
This is a stunning piece, not only because of its large size (we believe it is the largest of its type made by the Lavernes), but it is also a wonderful design statement, with an almost architectural quality. We know there were other similar tables made by the Lavernes. This is authentic and in top quality condition.

Provenance: This belonged to a New York interior designer during the early 1960s and was part of an interior shot of her apartment published by Interior Design Magazine circa 1963. We bought it from her c, 2010.

The table measures 72” long and 30” deep. It is 27 ¼” from floor to the table surface. See less
