A stately, antique late 1800s / early 1900s Danish Biedermeier style secretary desk crafted out of gorgeous straight grain pine … Read more A stately, antique late 1800s / early 1900s Danish Biedermeier style secretary desk crafted out of gorgeous straight grain pine with original brass hardware. From top to bottom the desk has a storage drawer, a fold down desk surface with interior cubbies and drawers, and a lower storage portion covered by doors. The desk writing surface has a new ink blue hide leather insert. The pine has a waxed finish that is buttery smooth with a subtle glow. The key works on the desk portion only. An absolutely stunning piece!
The top of the piece has a removable crown and measures 61" without the crown, 66.5" with the crown.
The hardware that holds the desk portion up is likely a vintage replacement of the original. Old notches in the wood from the old hardware is evident in the side of the desk surface, see photos. A small piece of moulding is missing from the left side of the crown, see last photo.
