Unpacking a long-forgotten box in a corner of an attic in an old home in the historic district of Raleigh North Carolina, these amazing pieces had been discovered with a very old hand-written note explaining those details of purchase. After some research, these are now believed to be much older Turkish bathhouse shoes a lady would have worn to protect her feet from the hot water and steam. An acid scratch test later showed these wooden platform shoes to be covered in a layer of metal and coated with 10k gold. Decorated with small bells. See less
