Known for his expressive forms and richly textured surfaces, Maxwell helped define the West Coast studio pottery movement of the era.
This vase features a dramatic inverted-flare silhouette with a deep central opening and a richly layered matte glaze. Earthy olive green covers most of the body, accented by expressive drip patterns in rust, copper, ochre, and reddish-brown tones. Subtle abstract swirl designs wrap around the surface, creating depth and a volcanic, organic feel.
Retains its original foil label reading “Handcrafted Stoneware by Designs West, California U.S.A.” (partially worn).
