In 1884, Phillip Rosenthal purchased white ware and sold designs hand-painted by his wife. In 1891, he established a factory in Asch, Bohemia and began production of his own white ware for use in his workshop. From 1897 to 1936, Rosenthal acquired factories in many towns, including Selb. The Nazis took over his factories in WWII. When the war ended, Rosenthal’s son, Phillip, returned to Germany where he modernized out of date factories and reestablished lost markets. These soup bowls are both beautiful and historically interesting and will enhance any table setting. See less
