A striking and characterful still life composition executed in oil on board, by the established Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

The painting captures a bold composition of four red apples nestled in a pale ceramic bowl, as it channels a sense of rustic intimacy through its simplified forms and earthy palette. Set against a loosely-rendered, wood-textured tabletop with blues and greens framing the background, the work evokes both structure and spontaneity.

Executed in a heavily impastoed style, the artist builds texture through deliberate, sculptural brushstrokes. The surface is rich with ridges of oil paint, applied thickly and expressively, lending dimensionality and movement to the otherwise still composition. Deep reds, moss greens, ochres, and navy blues dominate the palette, unified by the creamy whites of the bowl and accented by the textured backdrop.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks at the bottom of its linen section.
