Okimono depicting the longevity turtle known as Minogame or "straw-backed."
Minogames are considered lucky creatures throughout East Asia. Their long filaments, also reminiscent of the beards of wise old men, are a symbol of longevity and prosperity and appear frequently in paintings, sculptures, and crafts.
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912), minor signs of normal wear and occasional small wormholes (now gone).
