This Really is an Great Looking Authentic Antique American Primitive Stoneware Storage Jug. It is Embossed with a Number 1 1/2 ( Gallon ) Confirming its Liquid Storage Capacity. It has No Maker mark but in My Considered Opinion It was Made in the Philadelphia - Most Likely bu Henry Remmey. It is Rendered in a Unusual Style Jug Form. It has a Classic American Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front of the Jug has a Large & Well Executed Hand Decorated Deep Blue Color Stylized Flower Decoration. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store Liquids such as Ciders, Vinegar, Ales, Liquors & Spirits, Spring Water Etc.
It is in Very Nice Overall Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully. Minor Imperfections Noted - Small Chip at the Lower Section of the Handle ( See Photograph ) and The Bottom Lower Base Perimeter has a Few Very Faint Micro Hairline Surface Glaze Imperfections ( Not Cracks - See Photograph ). It has Some Color & Texture Variations to the Exterior Salt Glaze All of Which Would Have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. Stoneware Pieces Like This were Fired in Very Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common. It is in Strong - Sound and Perfectly Usable if so Desired.
It Measures Overall Approx. 12 1/2 Tall.
8 Inches Long - Wide.
