Wonderful, collectible, antique, 2 gallon stoneware jug with handle, made and stamped by "f. H. Cowden, harrisburg" in pennslyvania, from the 1880's.
the jug carries its pottery stamp / maker's mark on the front, just under the neck, with the stamp that has "2" for 2 gallons, and "f.h. Cowden, harrisburg", and features a beautiful, cobalt blue, stenciled snowflake design, in the form of a diamond pattern (see photos.) there is also the number "8", stamped under the base, which has a small hole that looks to have been integrated into the design (see photo.)
piece is in overall good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall body, as can be expected for a piece of this age. A few light marks / naturally occurring pits, that appear to have happened during the making of, and glazing / firing process. No cracks or chips (see photos.) it has only been gently dusted with respect to its original patina of time.
