The late Victorian Rosewood box of rectangular form has three compartments that open for letters, stamp and other items. A silver escutcheon on the front completes the box along with the key.

A handsome box for your desk, library or for cigars. Please note that for the center lid to lay flat the box does have to be locked. You can see in some of the pictures when it has not been locked.

The sterling mounts, shield, and escutcheon bear hallmarks for London, 1898 and maker’s mark of M.C in an oval for M Chapman, Son & Co Ltd (Middleton Chapman) registered in 1898.

Measurements; 13 3/8” X 6 ½” X 4 ½”

Condition Report; Very good, minor scratches to the box, wear to the inside wood compartments, all in accordance with age and use. See less
