ALFARAZ:
This ceramic creation comes from the ALFARAZ workshops in Madrid, Spain. It is entirely hand-made and decorated according to the design and under the direction of two of Spain's foremost ceramic artists, Miguel DURAN-LORIGA and Jesus MARTITEGUI. It is composed of clay treated with pure metallic oxides and baked at a high temperature. In its execution, and even in its contemporary design, it is rooted in the Spanish ceramic tradition which flourished in craft workshops on the Peninsula between the twelfth and seventeenth Century, the golden era of Spanish Art.
Through its link with the crafts of the past and through its own vitality, this ceramic creation represents the most authentic Spanish tradition, and the contemporary concept of one of mankind's most ancient arts: ceramics.
