A magnificent, hand-woven kilim from Anatolia, dated around 1970. It impresses with its vibrant color scheme, which nevertheless appears harmonious and balanced – thanks to the purely natural plant-based dyeing. The colors are bright, but never garish: saffron yellow, madder red, indigo, pistachio green, dark violet, and subtle brown tones dance in rhythmic order through the geometric pattern.
The weave follows the classic weft technique (kilim technique), in which colored areas lie next to each other like mosaic tiles – without pile, but with noticeable depth. The central motif is a series of taut diamond shapes embedded in a vibrant chevron pattern. It evokes mountains, life paths, and connections – traditional meanings that have been inscribed in the fabric from generation to generation.
Despite its strength, the rug remains friendly and serene – almost like a sunbeam made into textile. The clear balance and the finely coordinated colors make it a rare piece - whether on the floor or as an artistic mural.
A radiant handwoven kilim from Anatolia, dating to around 1970. Its joyful color palette feels bold yet balanced – achieved entirely through traditional plant-based dyeing techniques. The tones shine without being loud: saffron yellow, madder red, pistachio green, indigo, plum, and soft earth tones form a symphony of natural hues.
Woven in the classic flatweave (kilim) technique, the colored patterns lie side by side like mosaic pieces – no pile, yet full of texture and rhythm. At its heart, a striking row of diamond shapes flows within a lively chevron pattern, echoing themes of mountains, paths, and ancient connection. These motifs are not only decorative but carry ancestral meanings woven through generations.
Despite its strong presence, the kilim radiates lightness and joy – like sunlight translated into textiles. A rare and expressive piece, equally powerful as a floor rug or a statement wall hanging.
