These tables were originally designed as jardinières (planter tables), often found in the homes of European aristocracy during the late 19th century. Today, they can be used as:
• Side tables or end tables in a formal living room
• Accent pieces for an elegant entryway
•. Nightstands
The design elements and craftsmanship suggest they could be the work of a reputable French cabinetmaker from the late 19th to early 20th century, such as:
Auguste Majorelle
(1825-1879): Founder of the Atelier d'Art de
Decoration in Nancy, Majorelle was renowned for producing fine reproduction furniture in 18th-century styles, including pieces with lacquer work and intricate marquetry. His workshop was known for high-quality craftsmanship, which aligns with the features of these tables.
Bernard Molitor (1755-
1833): Although his most active period was earlier, Molitor's influence persisted into the 19th century. He was celebrated for his elegant designs and use of fine materials, often catering to French nobility.
His pieces were known for their refined aesthetics and superior craftsmanship
