Offering a special set of French Art Nouveau wall sconces with their signed RETHONDES pate-de-verre art glass shades, the Rethondes name associated with David Gueron, the founder of the Parisian Degue glassworks and a top-tier lighting designer of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
This set of three sconces features two-color, classically Art Nouveau-styled shades in excellent condition (one has a few very small chips on its lip, well-concealed when installed). The brass-bronze patina on the metalwork (solid brass) suggests 1910-1920 age and is in excellent condition as well. Note the complex and interesting design of the shade-holders, all original to the back plates.
Rewired and outfitted with three standard-based American sockets capable of delivering whatever wattage you choose to employ. Put these sconces on a dimmer and you'll marvel at the rich results achieved in the evening light.
Your electrician will need to employ a certain creativity to mount these fixtures and a picture of the mounting mechanism is offered for that purpose. French lighting almost invariably requires that "special touch" not every electrician can muster.
Dimensions: Projecting about 7 1/2 inches from the wall when installed. The base is about seven inches across and the sconces are about 9 inches top to bottom. The opening of the shade is about five inches.
