Striking mid-century modern silverplate sugar and creamer set by renowned Mexican silversmiths Los Castillo of Taxco, circa 1950s–1970s. This sculptural pair features rounded bodies with signature inlaid stone accents—likely malachute and lapis lazuli—on the handles and finials.
Both pieces are stamped “Los Castillo Taxco Mexico,” model number 102, and marked “Plateado” (silverplate). A rare and collectible set that beautifully blends bold form with refined artisan detail.
Condition: In good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Lid on sugar bowl is missing the pin that sits between the hinges of each piece keeping the two parts connected while also allowing them to open. It also may need repair to the small pieces of brass that wrap around the pin. The lid hinge on the creamer is slightly loose and would benefit from reinforcement; no repairs have been made in order to preserve the original construction. The lids by design are substantial and unfortunately the hinges were not robust enough to hold their weight for their 70ish years of service - and whose joints are? Please refer to the pictures of the hinging. Light surface wear and tarnish throughout.
A standout addition to any vintage silver collection, bar setup, or eclectic modern interior.
