We love this pair of andirons for its stately air. The pair of Neoclassical style ebonized copper ball-top andirons are probably European, and from the early 20th Century. They are distinctive pieces for any hearth.
Each surmounted by a copper ball inset into a cup molding over a rectangular pillar with raised stylized urn and acanthus decoration to the front of the rounded base, on short "penny" feet and curved log supports. This pair is elegant and makes a strong design statement. The ebonizing is overall except to ball finial and raised decoration of the urns.. One impressed "N7245", one marked l to the lower interior "No. 140." There is some rust as shown in the images closeup, but the pair is very tight and in otherwise good condition. This is a great Santa Barbara Estate sale find. They present very well. They lend themselves to quick and easy shipping and can be installed before the first hint of fall is in the air!
