About the artist : Celestino Piatti (1922–2007) was a Swiss graphic artist, illustrator, and painter, best known for his bold and instantly recognizable poster and book cover designs. With a signature style characterized by strong lines, vibrant colors, and expressive imagery, Piatti created iconic works, particularly in the fields of publishing and advertising. He is widely celebrated for his long-standing collaboration with the German publisher Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag (DTV), for whom he designed over 6,000 book covers. His artwork often featured stylized animals, particularly owls, which became a recurring motif in his work. Piatti’s designs remain highly sought after by collectors and continue to influence contemporary graphic design.
