With a textured brown body and smooth white glaze inside, is an Organic Modern beauty. A carved design of perpendicular lines in the upper half of the vase with a white glaze end before the smaller neck of the piece.
The vase has the Westraven Utrecht logo on the base and model number H-23 or I -123.
The Ravesteyn factory ( prior name of Westraven) was established in 1844 by the Ravesteyn brothers producing hand painted tiles. Around 1906 pottery department was introduced. After a number of name and owner changes, Westraven started producing good quality decorative pottery.
Leendert Blok had worked at the company since 1936 and around the 1950s he began using the Chanoir technique, similar to the chamotte or gres method, in his pottery designs. In 1994 the Utrecht factory closed.
Condition: Minor wear due to age and use but no damage.
Measurements: 3 3/8 inches diameter and 7 1/2 inches high. See less
