Graceful Silhouette on This Early 20th Century French Louis XV Versailles Bergère Style Oversized Arm Chair in a Striped Upholstery. Appearing first in Paris during the Régence (1715–23), the Bergère form reached its full development in the unifying curves of the rococo style. The fanciful name, "shepherdess chair", was coined in mid-eighteenth century Paris. Perfectly matched stripes and a beautifully aged patina on the wood frame.
