This really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Primitive Stoneware Spirits Jug. Circa Mid 19th Century. It is Not Marked as Such but it is an Approx 1 Gallon Size. It has a Classic American Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front of the Jug has a Large Hand Decorated Blue Stylized Flower Decoration. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store Liquids such as Ciders, Vinegar, Ales, Liquors & Spirits, Spring Water Etc. It is in Very Good Overall Original Condition and it Displays Nicely. It has 4 Chips at the Spout ( Quite Common with These Types of Jugs ). No Cracks and No Repairs. It has a Few Surface Glaze Imperfections ( Bubble Chips ) and Glaze Color Variations All of which are Either Age and Use Related or Would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. Stoneware Pieces Like This were Fired in Very Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common. It is in Strong - Sound and Perfectly Usable if so Desired.
