A very handsome example of rock crystal attributed to Baccarat, produced in the late 19th century in France. Baccarat designed this piece using an intaglio, or etched, technique on the front face. This vase depicts a Neoclassical theme based on Greek mythology, a god holding a sword and reaching out to a goddess statue sitting atop a pedestal. Typical of Baccarat, the cutting is of exceptional quality and precision.
In the 1800s Baccarat used branded paper labels, few of which remain today. As a result, this vase is unmarked.
