A scarce authentic antique Swedish paint decorated side table from the late 17th century.
A rare and important early example, this Northern European table most likely originated in the Scandes region (Scandinavian Mountain Range or Skandinaviska fjällkedjan) of Sweden, circa 1675.
Rustic handmade craftsmanship and quality construction, having a rectangular single board pine top with beautifully aged mellow patina and distinctive visible mortise tenon joinery while the edge of the thick slab retains remnants of early red paint pigments, over a solid wood pegged frame in the original antique white / cream paint finish fitted with a single large drawer affixed with simple turned pulls. The drawer-front features remnants of hand painted polychrome decoration depicting green evergreen tree forest framed by a red border, all raised on carved sturdy gently curved squared cabriole legs.
