"Q-bo - Chair" designed under the geometric concept of a cube, exclusive edition of 20/20 pieces, at the Graphic Research Laboratory (LIG), CDMX. Made entirely by hand, in a 3/8 ”and 1/2” steel rod structure and White Encino wood. Design: Luis Ricaurte Manufacturing Date: 02/2020
About Luis Ricaurte:
A visual artist of Colombian origin naturalized in Mexico. The inventor of Laserxylography, "Technique with which he broke the schemes that subjected the execution of contemporary graphic arts". His work has been highlighted for being interdisciplinary, as founder, director of the Graphic Experimentation Workshop and the Grafica Research Laboratory, in which not only researched for the visual arts sector, also developed avant-garde projects in architectural design, industrial and interior design, excelled as an innovator in both fields by the conjugation of artistic-technological elements.
His exhibitions amount to 45 individuals and more than 103 collectives. For his contribution, to the techniques within the world of graphics, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, (UNAM), paid tribute to him in 2011, pieces of his authorship are part of collections of various museums in the world such as MOLAA, Museum of Latin American Art, USA; Museo Nacional de la Estampa, Mexico; Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, Iran; Ibero-American Institute of Berlin, Germany, National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile, National Library of Spain.
The exhibitions stand out at the polo of the Biennale of Sao Pablo, Brazil, in 2010, the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca, Palazzo Spinola, Rochetta Ligure, Italy; Centro Cultural Recoleta Buenos Aires, Argentina; Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center of the University of Buenos Aires, (UBA), Argentina; Museo Nacional de la Estampa, Mexico; "Chicago ARTEahora", The First Chicago Latin American Art Fair, at the River East Art Center; Shanghai Art Fair, China, among others.
Invited by Tamarind Institute to develop an edition make it the few Latin American artists selected by this emblematic entity worldwide. His work has been exhibited as a pillar for graphic research in spaces such as CSO 2010 Lisboa Portugal, the University of Valencia Spain, the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Paragraphe Laboratory of the University of Paris VIII (France), and Europia Productions.
Graduated from the Art-Master of Fine Arts at the University of Illinois, USA, and holds a Master's degree in Plastic Arts from the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts in Cali, Colombia. In Mexico, he studied the Master's Degree in Art History at UNAM. He holds a Specialization in Language Philosophy from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.
