It features detailed hand-painted enamel panels on all sides, including the top, depicting classical figures and scenes inspired by Roman history and mythology, including a Roman emperor and empress, as well as a figure resembling Apollo.

The lid is topped with a reclining female figure in gilt bronze and adorned with bronze sirens and lion head mounts. Additional bronze accents include griffin-shaped claw feet, and classical and Egyptian-inspired details. The doors open to reveal three pull-out drawers, each decorated with enamel designs that match the exterior. The original working lock and key are included.
