Gerald Leslie Brockhurst RA (1890 - 1978) "Ursula" etching on paper, pencil signed. Inscribed on the back "from the estate of the artist's wife - 1998."
Brockhurst was a well known portrait painter and etcher whose subjects included Merle Oberon and Marlene Dietrich, as well as the Duchess of Windsor, whose husband commissioned her portrait. He was a Royal Academician (UK), a member of the Society of Graphic Art and National Academy of Design (US) associate member.
This particular print can be found in the collections of museums and institutions all over the world including Detroit Institute of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Smart Museum of Art at the University of Chicago, De Young in San Francisco, Royal Academy of Art (UK), and Syracuse University Art Museum among others.
