Brockhurst was a well known portrait painter and etcher whose subjects included Merle Oberon and Marlene Dietrich, as well as the Duchess of Windsor, whose husband commissioned her portrait. He was a Royal Academician (UK), a member of the Society of Graphic Art and National Academy of Design (US) associate member.
