Beautiful shapes & proportions! Comfortable, shaped to the body.
Love how the soft smooth roundness of the armrests fit in the palms of the hands.

The overall construction appears fairly solid and sound.

Beautiful patina to the wood, arm rests smooth to the touch, and the rest matte with some crazing and crackling, scratches and dings that show the lighter color of the natural wood underneath. Through the wear on the rails a reddish tone shows through.

The front ends of the rails appears to have been possibly filed down a bit crudely to not be too pointy, but it kind of adds to the charm and history of the piece.

Original cognac colored velvet upholstery with a lot of patina, especially on the seat where the fabric has turned stiff from wear. Around the edges of the seat the nail heads have become exposed. Needs re-upholstery or a cushion on top. The upholstery on the back of the chair is fairly good and soft still, with some interesting shifts in the color from raw sienna to burnt umber, depending on how the light falls.
