Antique and vintage trunks were made of wood, leather, pigskin and other materials. This is an antique trunk that has been restored. The most striking feature is this wood trunk is the iron ornamentations. They form a beautiful design around the edges of the top of the trunk. The metal lock on the front panel is both decorative and function. The wood has been restored and revarnished in a subtle mahogany hue. The interior of the trunk is also interesting. Eight butterfly joints are employed to hold the pieces of wood that form the top of the trunk in place. The craftsmen in Shanxi Province are known for their metal works. The interior is clean and perfect for holding clothing. The trunk can also be used as a coffee table or a side table. See less
