A very pretty porcelain vase decorated with hand painted chrysanthemums, butterflies and dragon fly. Convertible to lamp.
The pink back drop is adorned with brightly colored chrysanthemum and leaves.
Made mid 20th. Century in Macau, an Island off the coast of Southern China, formerly a Portuguese Colony. These pieces are no longer made there.
In Chinese culture, the chrysanthemum symbolizes long life, good fortune, nobility, integrity, resilience, and longevity. Butterflies symbolize joy, summer, long life, beauty, and elegance. The delicate beauty and graceful flight of butterflies have inspired countless works of art and literature throughout history. Dragon flies symbolize prosperity and good fortune.
Red makers mark along with another signature or symbol is on the underside of this vase.
