(image) Dry stamp "Galerie F" Geneviève Claisse (1935-2018) was one of the leading painters of French abstraction, following in the pure, demanding footsteps of Auguste Herbin (1882-1960). Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she quickly abandoned lyrical abstraction in favor of geometry. The work we propose has two levels: the flat, smooth sheet of paper, where two flat black and white surfaces confront each other. The second level is made up of rectangles, squares and a circle glued together with foam elements that enhance them and make them stand out in volume. Everything here is measured, elegant and simple. Claisse perfectly masters the art of balance and delicacy, with great economy of means. Certificate of authenticity This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
