Copperplate engraving from 1616, unavailable on the antiquarian market, shows a view of the city of Trier - the entire city with the city walls and the Roman bridge. Outside the city are the abbeys of St. Maximin, St. Matthias and St. Martin with a large mill, the Liebfrauen monastery and the cathedral, which dominate the city. Sailing ships sail on the Mosel, some of them moored to cranes. The copperplate by Petrus Bertius and Petrus Kaerius comes from Johannes Janssonius publishing "Commentatorium rerum Germanicarum". The work was framed in the Kaschenbach Gallery in Trier in the 1970s. It is a prestigious art gallery that still exists today. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
