The gingko leaf was one of Edgar Brandt’s favorite shapes; he adorned many of his extraordinary works with these leaves. NOT to implicate Brandt in this offering! No fake news here!

Here we have a nicely proportioned, diamond-shaped mirror which was intended to be hung horizontally; but, it could, of course, be hung vertically. Each end has two “eyes” where the original thick, woven cord would have been, a decorative knot holding it in place by the bottom eye, left and right. This might have been silver-threaded material. At any rate, if you want to fashion something of that nature, be my guest. I’ll include sufficient, substantial plastic-covered picture hanging wire so that you can hang the mirror in either direction, vertical or horizontal.

The original deep, rich brown color of the patina is in excellent condition and the metal is decorated with hammering all over. There are no scratches on the glass, but there are some minor disturbances to the silvering. The mirror has its original wood backing in place. The hand-wrought bevel is about ¾ inch wide.

Measurements: 31 wide (including the “eyes”), 14 5/8 top to bottom. See less
