This Willem De Kooning very rare vintage 1981 Abstract Expressionist fine art lithograph print custom framed extra large Modernist exhibition poster " East Hampton Garden Party " 1976, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist lithograph print poster is published by Guild Hall East Hampton, New York. printed in 1981 in an unnumbered limited edition of 100 on the occasion of the exhibition " Willem De Kooning : Works from 1951 - 1981 ". It features an Abstract Expressionist artwork image originally created by De Kooning in 1976 titled " East Hampton Garden Party ".

Willem De Kooning ( 1904 - 1997 ) the Dutch born Abstract Expressionist painter is known for his " Action Painting " style artworks. He was a part of group of artists that became known as The New York School in The Mid 20th Century including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Franz Kline, Arshile Gorky, Mark Rothko, Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and Clyfford Still among others.
The works of De Kooning are considered to be some of the most important Abstract paintings of The 20th Century. His artworks are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums including The Museum of Modern Art New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Smithsonian Museum, The Whitney Museum, The Guggenheim Museum, and The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
Guild Hall in East Hampton New York first opened to the public in 1931. This beloved institution has long provided The Hamptons with an important art gallery, theater and meeting place - the cultural center in the center of culture.
The East End of Long Island has attracted many diversely talented artists for more than a century. In the early 1960's the collection and exhibitions of Guild Hall began to focus on the artists who have lived and worked in the region, highlighting the tradition art artists in residence here dating back to the 1870's.
With the emergence of The New York School group of artists in The Mid 20th Century Guild Hall became one of the most significant meeting places of like minded artists establishing homes and studios there. This included many of the seminal figures of The Abstract Expressionist Movement including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Elaine and Willem De Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, and Joan Mitchell.
De Kooning had a significant connection to East Hampton and Guild Hall. He was a frequent exhibitor at Guild Hall, his artworks, alongside other notable artists, were exhibited there. He lived and worked in Springs, near East Hampton, and found inspiration in The East End's natural beauty.
He was a prominent figure in the artistic community of East Hampton and Guild Hall, which played a significant role in his career. He moved to Springs in 1963 established a studio and home there, further cementing his connection to the area. The natural beauty of The East End of Long Island, with its quiet landscapes by the sea, served as a major source of inspiration for De Kooning's work.
The rare out of print framed extra large format Abstract Expressionist exhibition poster print measures 39 1/2" W X 33 1/8" H X 1 1/2" D.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin eggshell finish gray stained white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
iI is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, use, light to moderate signs of handling, and some light to moderate visible surface wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
