Mahogany wood chairs with backrests in the shape of a lyre or “inverted ball”, typical of the Louis Philippe period (1830–1848) and also very popular in the early Victorian era. The front cabriole legs and the soft curve of the backrest provide a refined and timeless presence.
The slatted seat woven by hand in cord, an exceptional technique of high decorative level, made by hand, is not only comfortable and flexible, but also allows ideal ventilation, especially in hot climates. This type of chairs was common in living rooms, offices and dining rooms of the upper-middle class during the 19th century.
