Set of 5 hand colored engravings on paper of famous French women and their fashions. Each one has gilt highlights.
Included are:
1. Heloise, (1098-1164) French nun, writer, scholar, and abbess.
2. Marie D'angleterre, born Mary Tudor, (1496-1533) the sister of Henry VIII, married to Louis XII, King of France.
3, La Marquise de Verneuil (1579-1633), was the mistress of Henry IV of France.
4. Ninon de l'Enclos (1620-1705) was a French author, courtesan, and patron of the arts.
5. Mlle Louise de La Valliere (1644-1710), mistress of Louis XIV of France and later became the Duchess of La Valliere and Duchess of Vaujours in her own right.
