A striking modernist style coastal landscape with figure oil painting, by Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The painting presents a solitary figure walking through an archway toward a sunlit terrace overlooking the sea. The composition is rendered in bold, flattened planes of colour – sand, blue, soft cream, and oceanic blue – evoking both architectural space and emotional stillness.

The artist has used a minimalist palette and simplified forms to reduce the scene to its essential elements, allowing light and shadow to define the narrative. Brushstrokes are broad and deliberate, with slight texture in the ground planes suggesting the warmth of a Mediterranean setting.
