Simonetto designed this box for the Galvani ceramic works in Pordenone, Italy, and his original painting for this box is held by the Museo civico d'arte di Pordenone at the Palazzo Ricchieri. Along with Gio Ponti, Guido Andlovitz and others, Simonetto brought a freshness and modern stylization to ceramic design, moving Italy away from traditional, staid decoration going back decades or centuries.
