At the center of this visual narrative is the artist's self portrait; he is painting himself, note his face on the paint palette is his "altered image reflection". There are panels flanking circumference of vase, no empty space. Panels that tell a story, visual references to other cultures throughout history, primitive or ancient civilizations...depicting the basics of survival from shelter to hunting, foraging, horses, elements of fire, volcano, water, sun, and blood.
Easter Island or Polynesian type idols. Figure in boat rowing with oar. Teacher atop books with prophetic statement. (I was unable to find the same quote but it is similar to some paragraphs in the writings of Olaudah Equiano, The African, 1789.)
