This charming piece … Read more An antique Staffordshire money box in the shape of a cottage flanked by male and female figures. This charming piece is decorated in the round with trees and bushes on the side of the house and in the underglaze Prattware colors of ochre, mulberry, green, and black. There is a slot for coins on the back of the roof but no mechanism for removing coins, meaning boxes that were used for saving as intended did not survive in tact. Circa 1820 - 1840.

In very good antique condition with no chips or cracks. There has been restoration to the center top portion of the roof and portions of the chimney where the ochre hue is flatter and lighter. Also examination under black light indicates the entire piece except for the front of the house has been reglazed.

Dimensions are 4 5/8" tall x 4 3/4" wide x 2 3/4" wide. See less
