This David Hockney very rare vintage 1977 lithograph print custom framed Prisoners of Conscience exhibition poster " For Amnesty International " 1975, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Amnesty International. Printed in England in 1977 in an unnumbered limited edition of 2000. Originally produced by Amnesty to raise awareness for their Human Rights efforts.
This is one of a series of art posters created by fifteen artists to focus on Amnesty International's " Prisoners of Conscience " Year 1977. The posters were exhibited between February and March of 1977 in the Washington Place windows of New York University's Grey Art Gallery. It features an artwork image originally created by Hockney in 1975 titled " For Amnesty International ".

David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He is an important contributor to The Pop Art Movement of the 1960's. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The 20th Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist style artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Amnesty International is a non-governmental organization focused on Human Rights, with its headquarters in The United Kingdom. The stated mission of the organization is to campaigns for " A world in which every person enjoys all of the Human Rights enshrined in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights ". The organization has played a notable role on Human Rights issues due to its frequent citation in media by world leaders.
Founded in London in 1961 by the lawyer Peter Benenson. In what he called " The Forgotten Prisoners " and An Appeal for Amnesty ". The original focus was Prisoners of Conscience, including miscarriages of justice and torture. In 1977, it was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize. Amnesty draws attention to Human Rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international laws and standards. It works to mobilize public opinion to generate pressure on governments where abuse takes place.
The rare out of print framed exhibition poster print measures 25" W X 30" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with Uv protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin eggshell finish gray stained white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and some light to moderate visible surface wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
