Measures 59 inches wide x 35 inches tall (just over .5 inch deep), overall. Each panel is 14.75 inches wide.
Lovely midcentury 4-panel Japanese folding screen, circa 1955. Screen features a hand painted springtime scene of birds on a white cherry blossom branch, above an outcropping of rock with daffodils or narcissus flowers. Seven different types of birds are shown. Image is painted on cream silk, with a tan silk border. Japanese text and chop marks (signature) at upper right. The screen has a wood frame, with decorative brass trims and floral nail heads. The overall effect is soft and neutral, with gentle touches of color from the birds and flowers. Back is light blue linen fabric.
Screen is surprisingly heavy; it is freestanding and designed to be used on a tabletop or credenza. With the addition of hanging hardware, it may also be hung on a wall. Displays beautifully.
