This unique piece is truly one of a kind and perfect for equestrian enthusiasts! The mirror is encased in a carved wooden frame shaped like a horseshoe, and the glass features a curved bottom. An engraved silverplate plaque reads, “Norwood Country Club Polo Tournament 1934,” along with the names of the farm and the winning team members. This mirror was likely awarded as a trophy to the winners of the polo match.
The wooden frame has metal handles on either side resembling horse tack, and a hanging wire is on the back for easy display. The mirror measures approximately 22 inches high by 23 inches wide by 3 inches deep, while the silverplate plaque measures 4 inches wide by 1.5 inches high.
Norwood Country Club was an exclusive club in Monmouth County, New Jersey, from the 1910s to the 1930s. It offered activities such as golf, tennis, and polo, as well as entertainment and dining. Members included prominent individuals of the time, including the Gimbels and Guggenheims.
